Who we are#

Localee (“we”, “us”) is a tool that translates localization files into the languages you choose, using a large language model. The service is operated by Twelvefold Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong. By using localee.dev or any subdomain, you agree to these terms.

Using the service#

  • You may use Localee to translate files you have the right to use. Don't upload content you don't own or don't have permission to process.
  • Don't use Localee to process content that is illegal where you live or where we operate, that infringes intellectual property, or that contains sexual content involving minors.
  • Don't try to disrupt the service, abuse the rate limits, scrape it, or reverse-engineer it. Reasonable security testing is welcome — please email us first.
  • You are responsible for what you ship based on Localee's output. The translation preserves your source structure and placeholders; reviewing and shipping the result is your call.

Accounts#

  • You can use Localee without an account, within the anonymous free-tier limits. Signing in (Google, GitHub, or an email link) raises those limits and lets your usage follow you across sessions.
  • You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure. If you suspect unauthorized access, email us (see “Contact”).
  • We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

Content and ownership#

  • Your files are yours. We do not claim any rights over the files you upload or the translations we produce for you.
  • Translation is performed by a third-party large language model selected for translation quality. Model output is not deterministic and may contain errors — review translated files before you ship them, especially for user-facing strings.
  • The Localee name, logo, and site design are ours. Don't pass off your project as Localee.

Plans and limits#

  • Anonymous — 1 target locale, 1 translation task per day, up to 200 keys per file.
  • Free, signed in — up to 3 target locales, 5 translation tasks per day, up to 500 keys per file.
  • Credits (pay as you go) — buy credits and use them whenever you need, no subscription. One credit translates one word into one language (1 word-locale). Credits expire 12 months after purchase. Four packs: Starter $5 (10K), Small $10 (25K), Medium $20 (60K), Large $75 (200K). Starter/Small/Medium are the best per-word value for one-time purchases. Large is a bulk pack for big projects — same convenience as one purchase, but subscription is the better value for regular use.
  • Plus ($9 / month or $90 / year) — 50,000 word-locales per month, 5 target locales per task, files up to 5,000 keys, all file formats. For solo developers shipping small projects.
  • Max ($29 / month or $290 / year) — 200,000 word-locales per month, 15 target locales per task, files up to 20,000 keys, priority processing. For active developers with multiple projects.
  • Ultra ($99 / month or $990 / year) — 1,000,000 word-locales per month, unlimited target locales per task, unlimited file size, priority processing, dedicated support. For teams, agencies, and power users.

Free-tier daily limits reset at 00:00 UTC. Credit and Plus/Max/Ultra usage is measured in word-locales (one word translated into one language). Prices are in USD and exclude tax; taxes are calculated and collected at checkout (see “Billing and refunds”). The exact price you pay is always shown at checkout before you confirm. We may adjust free-tier limits over time to keep the service sustainable, and we'll give at least 14 days' notice on the home page before any pricing change that affects existing subscribers.

Credits#

Credits are pre-paid word-locales you can buy without a subscription. They are useful when you have a one-time project, when you exceed your monthly fair-use cap, or when you simply don't want a recurring charge.

  • How consumption works. When you translate on a paid plan (Plus, Max, or Ultra), your monthly fair-use allowance is consumed first. Credits only kick in as overflow — once the monthly cap is reached, credits are drawn down automatically (FIFO by expiry date). This way, a subscription you're paying for is always used before credits you bought separately.
  • Expiry. Each credit pack expires 12 months after the date of purchase. We send a reminder email about 30 days before any credits expire. Expired credits are removed from your balance; we don't reinstate them.
  • If you cancel your subscription. Your remaining credit balance stays on your account until it expires — cancelling a subscription does not void unused credits.
  • If you upgrade or downgrade. Switching between Plus, Max, and Ultra doesn't affect your credit balance. Credits are independent of plan.
  • Refunds. See the Refund Policy. Short version: 14-day no-questions-asked window on substantially-unused credits.

Billing and refunds#

  • Payments are processed by Paddle acting as our Merchant of Record. Paddle is the seller on your receipt and is responsible for collecting payment and remitting taxes (VAT, GST, US sales tax, etc.) based on your billing country.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel any time from the Paddle Customer Portal link in your receipt email, or by emailing us. Cancelling keeps your subscription access until the end of the current billing period; any credits you have remain until they expire.
  • Credit purchases are one-time payments, not subscriptions. Each pack expires 12 months after purchase; see Credits for the full policy.
  • Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy — short version: a 14-day no-questions-asked window, then case by case. Your local consumer-protection rights (e.g. the EU 14-day right of withdrawal) always apply.

Fair use of unlimited Ultra#

“Unlimited” on the Ultra plan means unlimited for normal human localization workflows — translating, reviewing, and re-translating your own projects. (Plus and Max have explicit monthly caps shown on the pricing page; Ultra is the only plan marketed as unlimited.) It does not mean automated mass generation, scraping, reselling translations as a service, or operating multiple accounts to circumvent limits.

Our limits exist to keep the service available and the model bill sustainable — not to get in the way of normal use. To protect the service from abuse we apply technical safeguards that real users will essentially never notice:

  • A short-term burst limit — well above any human upload / review rhythm.
  • A site-wide daily ceiling and per-account limits, measured in word-locales — high enough that a normal workflow never approaches them, low enough that scripted abuse hits them quickly.
  • Single-day anomaly review — accounts that translate an abnormal volume in one day may be paused pending a quick check, and the account holder is notified by email (see “Contact”).
  • Usage pattern monitoring — when you have accepted analytics cookies, PostHog tracks coarse feature usage (translations started, completed, downloaded — no file content) so we can flag patterns consistent with scripted or automated abuse. Standard product analytics, not screen recording.

We don't publish the exact thresholds because doing so would help the people we're trying to deter. If a limit ever kicks in unfairly, email us — we'll lift it within one business day for any genuine use.

Service availability#

Localee is provided “as is” with no uptime guarantees. We run on third-party infrastructure (Vercel for the site, Supabase for accounts, and our LLM provider for translation) and their outages can affect Localee. We will try to be available, but we don't promise it.

Termination#

You can stop using Localee any time. To delete your account, email us from the address on your account (see “Contact”). We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or if we shut the service down — in the latter case we will give reasonable notice on the home page.

Disclaimers and liability#

Localee is provided without warranty of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for total damages exceeding the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which, on the free tier, is zero).

Changes#

We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date will change and material changes will be announced on the home page. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
